14th Annual Bloomin’ Barbeque & Bluegrass
We know just about everyone loves some Barbeque or Bluegrass. Well what about Barbeque and Bluegrass at the same time? Our little town of Sevierville decided 14 years ago that the two made a great combination and started up the annual Barbeque and Bluegrass Festival in downtown Sevierville with a great list of entertainers! Ricky Skaggs even performed for the event last year! It’s that time again when the Bloomin’ Bbq and Bluegrass is back in town and ready for you come and see what all the fuss is all about! The Bloomin’ BBQ and Bluegrass welcomes about 37,000 attendees each year. The festival is located just one mile from River Plantation RV Resort! We hope you will come and enjoy the fun in downtown Sevierville this weekend starting Friday May 18th at 5 pm. The festival will begin again on Saturday at 9am and will continue to 10 pm with a jammed packed list of entertainers, an abundance of Great Food, and Amazing Family Fun!
Friday’s entertainers begin at 5 pm with the band Salt and Light! This bluegrass band is an all sibling band from North Carolina. They have their own distinctive sound that will interest listeners of contemporary and traditional bluegrass. They will be on the main stage until 6:00 pm and will be followed by Brad Hudson. Brad Hudson is a solo artist who has worked with several veteran musicians. One of those musicians being no other than Sevierville’s very own Dolly Parton! Hudson also co wrote a song “Smoky Mountain Strong” in honor of those that fought the wildfires in November of 2016. Next up on the stage is Jimbo Whaley and the Greenbrier band. Jimbo Whaley is originally from this area. He grew up in the next city over in Pigeon Forge, Tennessee. The band has made several accomplishments in the music industry and is a band you will not want to miss! Russell Moore and IIIrd Tyme Out are the last band to perform on the Main Stage on Friday! This band has been together for over 25 years and have been very successful! You won’t want to miss this band!
Are you a musician? The fun doesn’t stop at 10pm for you! You can join fellow pickers at the Late Night Jam Session on Friday Evening! Follow the signs that lead to the session on the Festival Grounds. The Late Night Jam session is presented by Dolly Parton’s Stampede! The Late Night Jam Session will last until 2am Saturday morning on May 19th!
The Entertainment starts up again on Saturday afternoon at 12pm with a full day of bands scheduled for the Main Stage! First up is Jonah Riddle and the Carolina Express! This band has performed with many great bluegrass artists. They have traveled and performed in various places all over the country. Mountain Ruckus takes the stage next. This band may be familiar to you if you have ever visited Dolly Parton’s Stampede. They perform the pre show that is filled with great music and entertainment. Next up on the lineup of bands is Rob Ickes and Trey Hensley! They have been recording together since 2015. They perform on the Main Stage at the festival at 2pm and 5pm.
